His chest is officially closed and he’s doing great! These numbers may not mean much to many of you, but I had to post them as a reminder of how well he’s doing right now! I’m so proud of him! May he continue to vibrantly heal….no looking back!

UPDATE (1/7/13)

As many of you saw, lil Beckett gave us a precious lil gift this morning by opening his eyes once again as if to say, ‘I’m still here, it’s gonna be ok…try not to loose hope’. ‘Hope’ is a tricky word to appropriately conceptualize. So much of me wants to cling to hope, yet I am trained (in business) to ‘set proper expectations’ or to ‘under-promise and over-deliver’. Naturally I then become afraid to ‘give-in’ to hope as if to set myself up for an even deeper wound if/when hope is assumed. I believe some timidity is a normal and acceptable emotion, but as Moses said to the Israelites, ‘The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still’. Beckett is still stable, but unfortunately he is not yet ready to be taken off of Ecmo entirely. The weaning has gone well, but the gap between its assistance and complete independence is a bit of a leap. We have been warned that tomorrow may be another Psalm 46:10 kind of day, so please continue to hope and pray for the continual strengthening of his heart and body. We are far from over….but Beckett is here to stay! ‘May the best days of our past, be the worst days of our future.’ — with Leah ‘Whiteley’ Rupp at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.
