They are currently preparing to take Beckett off his Ecmo! Praise The Lord! They trialled him off a few times this morning and he did really well. This technically means a surgery but it is done at the bedside. He is making great progress so far this morning. Please keep praying that God continues to give Beckett the strength he needs to sustain his body’s needs. We are filled with hope in this moment. Thanks for being with us on this journey! — with Jonathan Rupp.

So they found that Beckett’s shunt is clotted and it needs to be revised. He is currently in the OR to have it replaced. They have said this is probably exactly why he wasn’t able to come off his ecmo machine. It is possible he will be off the machine when he comes out of surgery after they fix it, but that is still unknown. His heart function itself looks good. Keep praying as now he is having another surgery and hoping this should fix the problem. Never been so excited to hear someone has a clot!! This gives us a problem that can be fixed. Praise The Lord! And praying for his continued protection and provision. — with Jonathan Rupp.

Please keep praying for Beckett. They are preparing to take him to the cath lab to make sure his shunt is working. They aren’t quite sure why he is having a hard time coming off ecmo. This is another scary time but God is good. We continue to trust in his faithfulness and his will for Beckett’s life.

January 2, 2013 Beckett Jude’s roughest day so far. How fitting is the reading for the day out of My Utmost For His Highest:

“He went out, not knowing where he was going” Hebrews 11:8

Have you ever “gone out” in this way? if so, there is no logical answer possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. One of the most difficult questions to answer in Christian work is, “What do you expect to do?” You don;t know what you are going to do. The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually examine your attitude toward God to see if you are willing to “go out” in every area of your life, trusting God entirely. It is this attitude that keeps you in constant wonder, because you don’t know what God is going to do next. Each morning as you wake, there is new opportunity to “go out”, building you confidence in God. “…do not worry about your life…nor about the body…” (Luke 12:22) In other words, don;t worry about the things that concerned you before you did “go out:

Have you been asking God what he is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do — He reveals to you who He is. DO YOU BELIEVE IN A MIRACLE-WORKING GOD, and will you “go out” in complete surrender to HIm until you are not surprised one iota by anything He does?

Believe God is always the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him. Then think how unnecessary and disrespectful worry is! Let the attitude of your life be a continual willingness to “go out” in dependence upon God, and your life will have a sacred and inexpressible charm about it that is very satisfying to Jesus. You must learn to “go out” through your convictions, creeds, or experiences, until you come to the point in your faith where there is nothing between yourself and God.

Jesus this is my prayer. Amen.

Thank you everyone for all the thoughts and prayers for Beckett and us as well. I am spending every moment possible right next to his bed. Jonny is giving updates on his page as best we can. Again thanks for the overwhelming support during this challenging time!
