As some of you may know, we have been able to meet the newest member of our family a few days ago, Lennon Davey Rupp. And with each birth of our children we are keenly reminded how precious and fragile life is. We are so grateful to add this beautiful daughter to our family, and so grateful for all her brothers. On this day, 10 years ago, our journey of being parents was being challenged and threatened on a daily basis. My how far we’ve come from those dark days. However, I am oddly grateful for the lessons Beckett taught us as parents to never take our kids for granted. This, among many other invaluable lessons, have remained true with each child. What a beautiful family we have been gifted…and we will never take a moment for granted!

UPDATE:

Dad & Beckett will officially have matching scars. Thankfully his surgery went well. It ended up being a quadruple bypass. His heart is in normal sinus rhythm, all vessels are open, all four heart walls have good circulation and the surgery “was complication free” (according to the surgeon). Now we just wait for him to wake up and be weaned off the ventilator. Then the true recovery process can begin. Thank you for all the encouraging messages and prayers.

CHALLENGING NEWS:

This is a picture of my Dad I took a few years ago on the top of a parking garage at Riley Children’s Hospital. Those were some very dark days for us, but Dad must have driven the 6 hour round-trip dozens and dozens of times over those 8 months. Never a fuss…just a quiet and comforting presence in the room. I truly admire and appreciate his consistent disposition and calm demeanor. I feel like this picture captures this for me.

Unfortunately, I received some very challenging news today that my Dad had a heart attack this morning and is joining Beckett’s open-heart surgery club tomorrow morning at 7:00am. The Doc said he should be very grateful he didn’t die from it. He will be having at least a triple, but possibly a quadruple, bypass surgery tomorrow. Please pray for a restful evening, a successful surgery, and a quick recovery. Thank you everyone in advance for the love and support. I always appreciate it more than I could ever adequately express.

Look who has another younger brother! Declan Shay Rupp was born on January 24, 2019 at 9:30am. 20.5 inches, 6 pounds 7 ounces. We are so grateful for our 3 boys…all so unique and special in their own way.

A few weeks ago we were planning a trip to my home in Ohio. Beckett was going to get to ride in the combine and we were just going to enjoy some time with my parents. Unfortunately those plans were changed when we made the unforeseen trip to the hospital. A few weeks later we were able to make good on those plans…and even on my dad’s birthday. Today, I’m thankful for life, health, family and my heritage. Grateful for another day.
