UPDATE (1/16/13)

-The Roller Coaster within the Roller Coaster-

How much can one take? We’ve been sitting by his side since this morning just praying, holding his hand, (I’ve been) playing guitar, and watching his monitor. We have no idea why his heart has decided to do this all of a sudden (being that he has had a few stellar days). Usually something like this would have happened immediately following surgery, or his chest being closed, etc….not days afterwards. He has been given some medicine, and it seems like everyone in the hospital is just ‘watching’. We are praying that he can pull himself out of this. I’ll try to post again once I know more, but sometimes it’s hard to sit down to gather my thoughts like this (you guys deserve it though). Thanks for the prayers and concerns…I need to go eat more than the muffin I had this morning. 😉

Jonah 2

“When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you ,…..I waited patiently for The Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry! He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock.” — with Leah ‘Whiteley’ Rupp at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

UPDATE (1/16/13)

It’s been 2 weeks since Beckett’s initial surgery, and he’s been quite the trooper. He’s had 7 ‘surgeries’ now since then and had been doing great these past few days. We woke this morning with many Doctors and Nurses in his room diagnosing an abnormal heart rhythm. Beckett’s heart would jump from 150 to 200 back down to 180 and then hit 230, etc. etc. Needless to say, it has been a very ‘trying’ and scary morning for us. We are still sitting in the waiting room to hear if they are able to get his heart under control with some medicine. Family have all officially gone back home and back to work…as if God was trying to say…’trust in ME’. We truly believe God CAN heal Beckett, we now pray for the desires of our heart to be aligned with the Lord’s will for Beckett’s life. Please pray for our son! Psalm 46:10 — with Leah ‘Whiteley’ Rupp at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

UPDATE (1/15/13)

Beckett moved rooms again today…we’re getting a tour of the entire hospital (it seems like). 😉 We are being told that this was a good thing. They have moved us closer to the nurses station, and we now have a nurse who takes care of Beckett, AND the room next door. It’s nice not being such a ‘priority’ any longer, but it’s all the more nerve-racking to not have a nurse constantly by his side anymore. He now has a feeding tube in his nose and is beginning to ‘eat’. Also, tomorrow morning is kind of a big-deal because they are officially doing an MRI on his brain due to the complications they had a few weeks ago with the lack of oxygen to his brain during his cardiac arrest after his initial surgery. Please pray for good results. We really are progressing, but I feel as if the anxiety-rush and adrenaline from the last few weeks are starting to wear off because Leah and I aren’t sleeping very well and everyone keeps commenting as to how tired we look (thanks). We are thankful, however, for the progress and are loving every moment we are blessed with our son. Family is officially heading home and going back to work, but take note that if anyone wants to visit…they are locking down all pediatric hospitals in Indiana from anyone under 18 years old to even enter the building (something to do with flu-season). Thanks again everyone….you all are amazing! Go Beckett! — with Leah ‘Whiteley’ Rupp at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

UPDATE (1/14/13)

As you may have noticed in the picture I posted earlier today, Beckett did have his chest officially closed. Though his stats have been very good since then, he has had some “minor” bleeding from his chest. The doctors and nurses are keeping an eye on it though, so…for now, please keep that in mind and in your prayers…
Leah and I are continually humbled by so many of you being creative and thoughtful in ways to support and encourage us, and we cannot be more appreciative. Even just the consistent response and support here on Facebook has been wonderful and very uplifting. I’ve even had a few people write Beckett a song (how cool is that?!). Just earlier tonight, my amazing brother sent me a song he has been working on for Beckett, and I just couldn’t help but share it with the rest of you. He’s extremely talented, and literally has a heart of gold (Love you Joshua Rupp). Please check it out (if you have the chance), and as always…thank you so much for your prayers, support and concern for my precious son!

His chest is officially closed and he’s doing great! These numbers may not mean much to many of you, but I had to post them as a reminder of how well he’s doing right now! I’m so proud of him! May he continue to vibrantly heal….no looking back!

UPDATE (1/13/13)

Yet another quiet day (Praise. The. Lord.)! With all that we have experienced thus far, it was very difficult to not be ‘on edge’ all day today (and this weekend) thinking that at any moment they will be giving us bad news. I know that is a horrible mindset, so we do actively fight against it by singing praise and giving thanks to God for every moment we have with Beckett. Beckett has had such a great weekend (thus far), that we are being told that they may even try again to close his chest as early as tomorrow. As you all have probably learned by now, ‘we’ll cross that bring when we get there’ with how quickly things/information changes around here. So grateful for ALL of your support. We are just so humbled by everyone seeking out ways to help and even spreading the word of our lil Beckett. He truly is a miracle baby (you should hear the doctors and nurses talk about him), he’s our amazing son, and we love him so much. Can’t wait to show him off someday soon! — with Leah ‘Whiteley’ Rupp at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

January 12, 2013

Ten months ago I was blessed with the news I was going to be a mother. Four months ago I was blessed with the news I was going to have a son. December 28, 2012 I was blessed to welcome my son into my arms. For the last 16 days I have been blessed to watch Beckett fight valiantly for his life. God has blessed me more times than I can count since then but He has literally given Beckett’s life back to me five times in the last 16 days. I never thought I could love so deeply. God continues to bless me through Beckett by teaching me to be a better mother. I am so grateful for this process. Thank you God for the gift of such a beautifully special son, and the honor and privilege you have given me by allowing me to be his mother. To God be the glory! — with Jonathan Rupp at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

UPDATE (1/12/13)

I surely hope this is my only update for the day, because Beckett is (and has) been doing well today…and we obviously want it to stay that way. To be specific, we did wake with news that he had a bit of a temperature throughout the night, but that was gone by mid-morning. He is also being slowly weaned off of some of his medicine (beginning with Dopamine…which they just now finished weaning him from…yay!). We continue to yearn and pray for a calm weekend with ‘hopes’ to possibly try to close his chest again (officially) on either Monday or Tuesday. I actually wasn’t even going to post an update (other than the precious picture earlier) because there really hasn’t been much going on (which is fantastic!). Please continue to pray for continual healing (as I know many of you are) and a relaxing/chill weekend. Goodnight y’all…have a good evening! (and if you get the chance, check out those ‘Matt Hammitt videos’ I posted earlier…what an amazing encouragement that was to us) — with Leah ‘Whiteley’ Rupp at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.
